The Community Catalyst for Local Journalism Fund is dedicated to supporting journalism that informs and engages the community, focusing on solutions-oriented reporting that addresses local challenges and opportunities. This fund aims to highlight initiatives and efforts that contribute to community building and way of life in North Central Florida. By covering critical issues related to neighborhoods, education, and the environment, it seeks to foster greater awareness, inspire action, and promote positive change in the community.

In 2024, the Community Foundation of North Central Florida:

•Organized and convened Think Tank for how to address the decline in local news coverage and subsequent meetings between media and UF

•More than 300 community members responded to survey regarding access to local news (see below)

•Partnered with Mainstreet Daily News for their Report for America newsroom grant. For the next two years Mainstreet Daily News will have a dedicated education reporter.
